Due to weather and club members commitments this is the clubs first trip of the year.

Arranged by our club chairman, John Wheatley, it was a trip down to the town of Penarth in South Wales. The boat was the "Benjoma Too", with skipper Paul Crossman, and it was to be a two day event.

All members travelled down the day before we were due to fish and got booked into the Glendale Hotel, which also had the best Italian Restaurant in town attached to it.

The next day was to be an early start so that weather permitting we could get well out into the Bristol Channel, however the winds were against us and we started fishing the first mark which was just off Flatholm Island which is about mid channel directly of Penarth.

With the flood tide the morning and very early afternoon produced a nice range of fish which included Cod, Smoothhound, dogfish and eels.

After high water and on the turn of the tide the elements were against us and we had to move into a more sheltered mark, finishing the day with a few more doggies.

The second day again was very windy and the marks were selected on where it was possible to fish due to the effects of the wind and tide.

However it was another quite good days fishing with more cod, smoothhounds, eels, dogfish and six very nice skate.

Our thanks to the skipper Paul for an excellent two day trip, which despite the weather he managed to find fish on both days, also for the numerous coffee and tea which he kept us supplied with.
